Polishing Travertine

One mis­con­cep­tion of clients is that pol­ish­ing traver­tine ( or any nat­ural stone) will resolve the dull­ness that they often are expe­ri­enc­ing. While only pol­ish­ing can be an ade­quate rem­edy in cer­tain sit­u­a­tions, there are an equal num­ber of instances where wear marks and sur­face scratches have robbed the stone of its orig­i­nal beauty and only pol­ish­ing is a vein attempt to restore the stone. The pic­ture shown below on the left reveals a por­tion of the traver­tine tile floor that should have had dia­mond abra­sives uti­lized on it (was only pol­ished at clients request despite warn­ings) and the pic­ture on the right that was close to the wall with vir­tu­ally no traf­fic on it still had good clar­ity.
